The South West LHIN will be getting not one, but two new Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinics (NPLCs) to help unattached patients in London and Ingersoll find the health care services they need, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care Deb Matthews announced August 23.
“Nurse practitioner-led clinics are an integral part of health care in Ontario,” said Matthews, who made the funding announcement with London-Fanshawe MPP Khalil Ramal at the Merrymount Children’s Centre on Colborne Street in London, ON. “This investment means more access to quality health care closer to home for Ontarians.”

Stand up to Diabetes community tour visits London

Diabetes experts on a provincial tour to help those living with the disease spent the day in London's White Oaks Mall August 6 for a five-hour session on prevention and management.
"We're here today because we want to educate people about diabetes and to connect people with the right kind of diabetes supports and resources that they need in their own community," said Sherri King, one of two Diabetes Nurse Educators on hand for the event.
In addition to information on blood sugar monitoring, cholesterol tests and retinal eye exams, mall shoppers were treated to nutrition and fitness demonstrations. In the photo above, King is seen with Tracy Jones, Fanshawe College's Food and Nutrition Managment Program Coordinator, preparing a Greek lentil salad - just one of dozens of recipies available on the Canadian Diabetes Assocation's website at www.diabetes.ca.
