Expanding Physiotherapy for Seniors and Patients

On April 18, 2013 the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care announced that more than 200,000 additional seniors and patients across the province will benefit from improved access to high-quality physiotherapy, exercise and fall prevention classes. The South West LHIN looks forward to taking an active role in this important work for seniors, patients and their families.

Each of the 14 LHINs is working closely with the Ministry’s teams to put into action each of the five areas of focus.  The LHINs are working with health care partners and service providers to ensure enhanced access to and the continuation of:

In addition to the services outlined above the LHIN will also be working towards integrating physiotherapy into family health care settings, including Family Health Teams, Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinics, and Community Health Centres.

Expanding physiotherapy is about ensuring seniors and their families have access to quality services and supports in order to lead healthy and independent lives. This LHIN is committed to consulting with patients, health care partners and service providers to ensure those in our communities with the greatest need benefit from these improvements.
